Presentation/prototype (K&G)
Written report (H&R)
other: find cheap, empty oil drums- to hold ~300 gallons of water
design curtain prototype
Week 9:
Find info on permits/why to use/not use pyrolysis (H)
Thermalmass materials (K)
Survey if curtain will be a good addition to the greenhouse (G&R)
Week 8:
Meet on the farm:
-survey the resources for pyrolysis
-do a small-scale experiment, making biochar
How to step-by-step carry out Pyrolysis (G)
Find a stove design (H)
Buy
Viagrow 25 ft. Mylar 2 mil Reflective Film (G)
-Night shade? Is mylar efficient enough
Week 7:
Deliverables- Still in concept phase: read/take notes on (at least 3) scholarly articles each- to get a better idea of which concept is the best way to go.
*All research due Wed
G&K- get "AT library/Village Earth" research all possible concepts
R- visit farm; Use: Web of Science (Drexel.library) & Engineering Village to research
H- Use: Web of Science (Drexel.library) & Engineering Village
All- also use: http://cd3wd.com/cd3wd_40/cd3wd/index.htm
What we want to find out:
Average greenhouse temps/humidity (R&H)
Is pyrolysis the best to heat the greenhouse?
What stove possibilities? (K)
How can we keep maintenance low? -not need to feed the stove constantly (G)
Hybrid design options? Stove with biomass + _?_ - One way milar covering on roof? (G)
Is there a way to integrate a fan? Irrigation?
Week 6:
Deliverables- Research the following...
-Find out for a greenhouse of this size (28'x12'x9'), how much heat is needed and at what temperature the air inside the greenhouse should be kept at.
- How much biochar is needed for that.
- Is there enough waste on the farm to create that much biochar?
- When we burn the biochar, for how long will it provide the heat rate we need for the greenhouse?
G-research on biochar and heat
K- call greenhouse co;
R- make sure there are enough scholarly articles
H- figure out quantity of biochar needed for the experiment

[hw]
All- (back to basics) Find a scholarly article about ____, take some notes, and write 1-2 pages of brainstorming (think outside the box!)
